What is Food2Soil:
Since 2020, Food2Soil has been on a mission to divert commercial food and coffee waste; transforming it into highly nutritious feed for our plants, soils and the planet.
Our brand has already grown exponentially: we have partnered with major retailers like Harris Farm, IGA, and Alpha Fresh, to stop the problem at its source, and tackle the 7.6M tonnes of food waste that currently end up in Australian landfills annually.
The demand for our biofertiliser has been overwhelming - so much so, we have just moved to a bigger production site. Your investment will help us buy new equipment, partner with more key waste suppliers, and expand our product line to scale our revenue and impact on the planet.
The Problem
Food2Soil was born out of a pressing concern for waste and a love for our Australian soils:
Our Solution
Through extensive experience in waste management, nutrition, permaculture and land regeneration, we knew we could address these challenges with a single solution.
We have built a circular economy solution that redirects valuable nutrients from food waste back into our soils, creating a microbe-rich biofertiliser that boosts plant and soil health. Think kombucha but for plants and the planet!
All while capitalising on the global biofertiliser market that is projected to grow to USD 5.0 Billion by 2032, exhibiting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.24% during the forecast period (2023 - 2032)
-
Stage 1:
Partnered with key stakeholders with food waste (eg Harris Farm Markets and Alpha Fresh) and Biofeed (pulping device) to enable maximum efficiency for waste collection and processing . -
Stage 2:
We use the ancient practice of fermentation to extract the nutrients from the food and coffee waste and turn it into a microbial rich and natural biofertiliser for plants and soils! -
Stage 3:
Our products are bottled, packaged ready for dispatch. -
Stage 4:
Products are sold to our customers home gardeners, market gardeners, landscapers, farmers and beyond via retailers, wholesale, and through our online store.
We like to call it "paddock to paddock" - the perfect example of the kind of circular economy business that Australia needs.
Business Model
We operate a successful multi-channel business model. Our products are sold direct to consumer, online, wholesale, and through major retail outlets like IGA and SupaBarn, and coming soon in Harris Farm Markets and Alpha Fresh ACT.
Unlike other businesses, our manufacturing process diverts waste from landfills AND is an additional revenue source for our business.
Food2Soil saw a 10X increase in sales from 2022 to 2023, while we were operating on a small-scale pilot site known as the first ‘Food2Soil Brewhaus’.
Now in 2024, we are moving to our new full scale commercial facility, capable of producing 60 times the volume, to keep up with consumer demand.
Manufacturing:
There is a major opportunity on the horizon for Food2Soil to support more commercial businesses, as State Government's EPA laws are changing imminently.
Currently all commercial businesses in Australia incur costs to dispose of their food waste in landfills. By 2024 new regulations will be implemented, enforcing commercial businesses to divert all of their organic food waste from landfills or face substantial fines. This regulatory shift presents a significant revenue avenue for Food2Soil, as it can assist more businesses in meeting legal obligations, while also supporting them in fulfilling their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) responsibilities
Online:
Our e-commerce store offers an enhanced shopping experience. We have an 8.8% subscription rate and boast a 4.2x sales conversion rate.
Wholesale:
Serving both hobby and commercial regenerative farmers, we sell wholesale products in 20L, 50L, and 100L, for small and broad-acre holdings to cater to diverse needs.
We also have a growing interest from grocery stores, independent retailers, and landscaping supplies due to the growing numbers of customers concerned about climate change.
Retail:
We sell in major retailers including:
- IGA
- Supabarn
- Alpha Fresh
- Harris Farm (ACT) commencing May 2024
With an ever-growing list of businesses registering interest to sell our product nation-wide.
Use of Funds / What's next?
Having recently relocated to a new site, we are raising funds to invest in equipment for economies of scale, driving conversions through increased marketing efforts, and creating a seamless customer experience.
We love creating new products! Starting from the original Food2Soil to premium compostBOOST, we've grown to offer exclusive items like F2S Gardener’s soap and Food2Soil Chocolate. And there's more to come! We're excited to release even more products for our customers and retailers.
To meet growing demand, we plan to enhance logistics by strategically investing in automation, addressing bottlenecks, and leveraging third-party logistics systems for efficient dispatch.
Your investment will help us continue to divert more waste, feed the planet, and deliver sustainable solutions.
